Oracle Tips by Burleson

Web Stalkers
Chapter 3 -
Web Weirdos

Looking for Love on the web

Do not look for an opposite.  Identify features where one does not want the opposite.  These things are what matter the most.  If religion is important, look for someone with a compatible religion or at least a tolerance of such beliefs.

Public meeting.  Make sure that the meeting place will allow either person to make a quick exit if something does not feel right.  One may decide that if the other obviously lied about their height or appearance, they do not know what else they may have lied about and may want to pass on this date.

Finally, Tim says that if a relationship does not work out, try again.  Do not avoid Internet dating.  When learning to ride a bicycle, most people fall down at least a few times.  If people quit trying to ride because they fell down once, there would be a lot of bike companies going out of business.

Ensuring Safety from Cyber-nuts

Many safety guidelines are important when first meeting someone in real life that one has only known via e-mail, chat, or telephone.  Many of the guidelines are good ideas all of the time, while some may not be important if one feels like they already know the other person.

Lisa Hupman is the operator of a website that informs people about the possible dangers when a relationship is initiated online.  To be fair, some of these dangers exist regardless of how or where two people meet, but www.wildxangel.com is a site that contains a lot of information from people who wish they had been more cautious.

Some tips for a first face-to-face meeting are shown in Figure 3.1.
