Web Stalkers
Chapter 3 -
Web Weirdos

Looking for Love on the web

Internet dating or online introductions do have their success stories.  The following are important examples of the positive impact that the Internet can have.

A Way to Meet: A Real World Case

Tim had decided to look outside of his usual hangouts to find a new romantic interest.  He had a few matches that looked good via e-mail and through telephone calls, but they ended up not “clicking” in person for various reasons.

Finally, he started a dialog with a girl and after they spent some time getting to know each other through e-mail conversations and phone calls, they agreed to meet in a public place.

That date and the many that followed have resulted in what is currently a two-year relationship.  It is not a perfect relationship, but none are, regardless of whether they originated online or off.  By all accounts, this relationship is going well and may very well last many years or decades.

Tim considers this a true success story of online dating.  He attributes this success to some factors that could be beneficial to others considering online dating:

Give it time.  Spend time getting to know the other person’s personality, likes, and dislikes before arranging an in-person meeting.

Do not look for a twin.  Variety is the spice of life and a relationship with a lack of spice can be a bad recipe.  If he likes jazz music and she likes classic rock, there is room in the CD caddy for both.
