Web Stalkers
Chapter 3 -
Web Weirdos

The Land of Fruits and Nuts

The following section presents information on the most harmless of all web weirdos, the socially inept and will reveal details about the more dangerous web deviants.

Social Incompetents and Neurotics

While the planet is filled with socially inept people, the web has a greater than average share of people without basic social skills.  Ever since the 1950’s, people with a desire to avoid human interaction have been drawn to the solitude of computers, a safe place where they can interact without fear of persecution.

On the web, socially inept people are usually seeking a partner, a set of friends or an intimate relationship.  The socially inept user is like the kid who always was picked-on at the playground, and their clumsy advances toward people on the web can be frightening.

For example, he simply does not understand that if a woman tells him she cannot go out with him because she is washing her hair; she probably is not washing her hair, but is actually letting him know she is not interested.  He figures that the answer will be ‘yes’ if his timing is better, so he asks her out repeatedly.

Fortunately, the socially incompetent person frequently can be convinced to stop their pursuit; especially when threatened with public exposure such as a stalking complaint.
