The ubiquitous nature of the Internet has
permeated every aspect of society in the 21st Century.
The Internet has evolved into a respectable medium for commerce, and
companies all over the world are going online.
The phrase “Brick and Mortar” is now used to
refer to the old-fashioned ways of retailing and virtually every
major retail chain has a web presence today.
Retailing - Huge multi-billion dollar retail
conglomerates including eBay, Amazon, and kmart.com rake-in billions
of dollars each year from online sales.
Entertainment – The web has been a huge and
successful source of revenue for online music, gambling and the sex
eBanking – Large banks including eSchwab,
Ameritrade, and Chase Online are providing online financial services
across the USA.
Service Industries - Medical advisory web sites
such as WebMD are booming, as are insurance, travel, and online
eCommerce is slowly changing the face of
employment in America. Traditional face-to-face occupations such as
bank tellers, travel agents and stock brokers are rapidly
disappearing, and are being replaced by secure web pages.
