Chapter 10 - Ease of Administration

Proceduralize the Change Request Process

  • Oracle Database Change Request Form – used for requesting physical changes to the Oracle database environment.  The form will be used for requesting both system changes (i.e. modifying rollback segments, temporary tablespaces, default tablespaces) and object changes (adding new columns, creating new indexes, etc.).

The Oracle Database Change Request Form contains the following information pertinent to Oracle change requests:

  • Schema owner of object to be changed.

  • Object name to be changed.

  • Object type (i.e. table, index, view) of the object to be changed.

  • Detailed description of change requested.

  • Oracle Migration to Production Request Form - used for requesting the migration of Oracle objects (databases, tablespaces, tables, indexes, etc.) from test to production.

The Oracle Migration to Production Form contains the following information pertinent to the object migration process:

  • Object name of the object to be migrated.

  • Object type for the object to be migrated.

  • The name of the database the object will be migrated from (source database).

  • The name of the database the object will be migrated to (target database).

  • A freeform area for special processing required during the migration process.
