Donald Burleson

Dr. Timothy Hall

Dr. Tim Hall is an Oracle Certified Professional DBA (7.3, 8, 8i, 9i, 10g) and has been involved in DBA, design and development work with Oracle databases since graduating from college in 1994 with a PhD in Molecular Genetics.

Tim Hall has gained a wide knowledge of the Oracle software stack and has worked as a consultant for several multi-national companies on projects ranging from real-time control systems to OLTP web applications. Since 2000 he has published over 200 articles on his website www.oracle-base.com covering a wide range of Oracle features.

Bert Scalzo

 

Bert Scalzo is a Database Expert for Quest Software and a member of the TOAD dev team. He has worked with Oracle databases for well over two decades. Mr. Scalzo’s work history includes time at both Oracle Education and Oracle Consulting. He holds several Oracle Masters certifications and an extensive academic background - including a BS and MS in Computer Science, an MBA, plus insurance industry designations. Mr. Scalzo is also an Oracle ACE.

Mr. Scalzo is accomplished speaker and has presented at numerous Oracle conferences and user groups - including OOW, ODTUG, IOUG, OAUG, RMOUG and many others. Steve Karam

                   

Steve Karam is one of the few DBAs worldwide to achieve both the Oracle 10g Certified Master certification and the Oracle ACE designation, both of which he received before the age of 26.  As both a production DBA and an instructor, he has a proven track record in performance and troubleshooting on dozens of high profile Oracle systems including complex RAC environments. 

Additionally, Steve has been developing against Oracle databases for over twelve years on a variety of platforms including C, C++, Java, PHP, and Application Express.

    Brian Peasland

Brian Peasland has 17 years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator. He has a M.S. degree in Computer Science focusing on database systems. Brian is Oracle certified with the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) DBA for the 7.3, 8, 8.1, 9i, and 10g versions.

Brian has been working with Oracle database performance tuning since Oracle 7.3 and with Oracle RAC since the 10.1 version.

Terry Clark

Terry Clark is an Oracle Certified DBA with more than 25 years of full-time IT experience. Certified in client-server and LAN technologies by DePaul University, Terry has extensive experience with Linux troubleshooting and tuning database networks.

An acknowledge Linux and Oracle expert, Terry has published in Oracle Internals Magazine and has over a decade of Oracle experience working with mission-critical Linux and UNIX systems. Terry specializes in Linux Oracle tuning and troubleshooting and is noted for his ability to quickly identify and correct production problems.

Robin Schumacher

Robin Schumacher serves as the Worldwide Director of Product Management for MySQL, the world's leading open-source database management system.  Robin has over fourteen years experience in database administration, development, monitoring, and tuning with Oracle, DB2, Teradata, Sybase, and Microsoft SQL Server. 

Robin has authored countless performance-related articles for many database-centric magazines as well as serving as a database software reviewer and feature writer for the likes of Intelligent Enterprise, eWeek, DM Review, and others. 
 




Arup Nanda

Arup Nanda is the recipient of the coveted DBA of the Year 2003 award by Oracle Corporation.  This award is among the most highly respected in the database industry, and each year only one of more than a quarter million Oracle professionals are honored by this distinction.  A decade of experience as a DBA has made Arup an expert in many Oracle areas including Oracle Design, Oracle Modeling, Oracle Performance Tuning and Oracle Backup & Recovery.

Daniel Liu is a senior Oracle Database Administrator for First American Real Estate Solutions in Anaheim, CA.  He has many years of industry experience in database administration and software development.  He has worked with large-scale databases in multi-platform environments.  His expertise includes Oracle database administration, performance tuning, Oracle networking, and Oracle Application Server.

Madhu Tumma has been working as Software Developer, IT Manager, Database Administrator, and Technical Consultant for about 18 years. Dave Moore

Dave Moore is a Product Architect at BMC Software, a leading supplier of database software tools.  As the inventor of BMC's DBXray product, he has developed many products that assist Oracle DBAs and Developers.  He has over 13 years of experience in Information Technology - as a DBA and as a developer specializing in Oracle, Java and PL/SQL.  

Dave has presented at OracleWorld and is a frequent contributor to Oracle Professional and DBAZine.  He holds a BS in Information Systems from Western Carolina University.  Dave lives with his wife and three children in Austin, Texas.





Jeffrey Hunter 
  Jeffrey Hunter graduated from Stanislaus State University in Turlock California with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Jeff is an Oracle Certified Professional, Java Development Certified Professional and currently works as an independent Senior Database Administrator.

Kimberly Floss 
 

Kimberly Floss is one of the USA's most respected Oracle Database Administrators and President of the International Oracle Users Group (IOUG).  With more than a decade of experience, Kimberly specializes in Oracle Performance Tuning and is a respected expert in SQL tuning techniques.

She is an active member of the Chicago Oracle User Group, and the Midwest Oracle User Group, in addition to the IOUG.  Kimberly Floss has over 15 years of experience in the Information Technology Industry, with specific focus on relational database technology, including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase. Dr. Chris O'Malley 

 

Dr. Christian O'Malley graduated from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996.  Since graduation, Dr. O'Malley has devoted his practice exclusively to equines.  A large part of Dr. O'Malley's practice is ambulatory, so he is well rehearsed in all aspects of caring for the ailing equine in the field setting.

Dr. O'Malley and his wife Dr. Amy O'Malley are the owners of Warrenton Animal Clinic, a mixed animal practice they started in 1999.  Dealing with equine emergencies is a common occurrence for Dr. Chris since he is the only equine veterinarian available in the surrounding horse country. 

In 2005, Dr. O'Malley began to compile his experience and knowledge of equine emergencies into his book entitled "Horse 911: Dr. O'Malley's Veterinary Emergency Handbook".  This handbook is packed with concise, easy to understand information pertaining to equine emergencies.  The sole purpose of the book is to provide the horse owner an opportunity to help themselves and their horse in a time of crisis.  Dr. O'Malley feels that horse owners in particular are more attuned to the health and care of their horses as compared to other pet owners.  For this reason, he wants all horse owners to be knowledgeable in the well-being of their horse.

On a personal note, Dr. O'Malley is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing and camping.  When he's not working he stays busy with his wife raising their three children




Dr. Amy O'Malley

  Dr. Amy O'Malley graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  She is the owner of Warrenton Animal Clinic and directing veterinarian for the humane society in Warren County North Carolina. 

Dr. Amy is also a member of the chamber of commerce, the animal health advisory board, the Warren county board of health and Citizens for Animal Protection.  She is an avid equestrian and spends much of her free time training and riding her three horses. 





Mladen Gogala 
 

Mladen Gogala is a highly-respected Oracle certified DBA with more than 15 years of IT experience and a BA degree in mathematics. Gogala has extensive experience in UNIX scripting, Oracle tuning and UNIX system administration, using every popular dialect of UNIX and Linux. Bipul Kumar is a Senior Application Engineer for a Telecommunications company in St. Albans Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. He has more than six years of experience in creating and managing Oracle Databases of varying sizes, primarily on UNIX operating systems.

Mr. Kumar has a Masters degree in Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India and nearly nine years of experience in computing.  In addition, he has acquired Oracle DBA certification for 7.3, 8.0, and 8i




Joseph Gama

 

Joseph Gama is a software engineer, specialized in SQL Server. His popular database tutorials have received very positive feedback from the Microsoft SQL Server community.

He has contributed over 10,000 lines of source code to the public domain, mostly TSQL, JavaScript and C/C++. Adding to that, he created and shared over 800 rules for Snort, half of them for Microsoft SQL Server.

Joseph lives in California, in the Bay Area. His main interests are polyominoes, phonetics and linguistics.






P. J. Naughter 
  Patrick Joseph (PJ) Naughter runs Naughter Software, a software development consultancy firm specializing in native mode Windows development. Before setting up Naughter Software, PJ was a technical architect and software developer working for Soft-ex Communications, a developer of PBX Call Monitoring software located in Dublin, Ireland.

In his spare time, he runs a popular personal web site (naughter.com), which provides open source and shareware of interest to Windows developers. At last count, well over 230,000 lines of Win32, MFC & ATL C++ source code is available to download.

PJ lives in rural Ireland, 50 miles south of Dublin. Outside of computers, he also has a keen interest in Astronomy, Pub Quizzes, 10-pin bowling, science fiction and the odd game of golf, Irish weather permitting of course. 



Edward Stoever 

 

Edward Stoever is the Senior Oracle Database Administrator for Fuller theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. His first exposure to Oracle came in 1999, when he created "Grannymail.com", one of the internet's first sites offering real postal letters and greeting cards sent from a users browser.

Typical to early internet ventures, Grannymail.com vanished from the web in 2002. Shortly after, Edward became an  Oracle Certified Professional, both as a Database Administrator and as an Application Developer. After achieving his certifications, the technical school where Edward trained for his certification hired him as a teacher. As a student and teacher, Edward learned the importance of writing technical instructions that are concise and easily understood.

In 2003, Edward joined the Management Information Services  department at Fuller Seminary. He was quickly promoted to Senior Database Administrator. Edward is a single-father of two daughters, Scarlett and Veronica.





Dr. Steven M. Cerutti 
  Dr. Steven M. Cerutti has a Ph.D. in Classics from Duke University and is an internationally recognized expert on word origins. Considered one of the world's leading authorities on Classical literature, art, and architecture, Dr. Cerutti is a professor of Classical Studies at East Carolina University where his courses are consistently voted "most popular" among the over 20,000 undergraduate student population.

Steve is also a private pilot and enjoys flying with his wife, Chandra, who is an instructor of English Literature and Composition at East Carolina University. Both Steve and Chandra are classically trained pianists and enjoy performing at informal faculty gatherings or formal university functions 




Michael Cunningham 
 

Michael Cunningham has been a Software Engineer and DBA working with Oracle for over 10 years. He has worked as technical consultant on applications ranging from Insurance to Biological/Chemical Analysis.

Michael lives in the Napa Valley with his wife Maria and two daughters Marisol and Tatiana and is an avid Rover ready to travel at a moments notice.

 




Vadim Tropashko 
  Vadim Tropashko graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1984. Tropashko researched Petri Nets for five years following graduation. In the early 90s, his interests switched to OOP. Tropashko translated "The C++ Programming Language" by B.Stroustrup into Russian.

Vadim was a C++ instructor at University of Radio and Electronics in Belarus. In the mid 90s, Tropashko's interest changed from OOP to databases. Vadim Tropashko has now worked for Oracle since 1998.   





    Kent Crotty 
  Kent Crotty is Oracle Certified DBA and a graduate of the University of Maryland.  He is an IT professional with over 15 years in a variety of roles ranging from Programmer/Analyst (developer) to Systems and Database Administrator.  

Kent is instrumental in developing complex Oracle systems architectures and specializes on web-based Oracle applications.  Kent is a well rounded Oracle DBA with a broad range of experience and skills.





Sam Afyouni 
  Hassan Afyouni is a certified database administrator with fifteen years of software development in business, scientific, engineering, telephony, and financial applications. Hassan has fourteen years of teaching and training experience, he has delivered undergraduate, graduate and technical courses to major universities and corporations globally.

Hassan has developed database administration program curriculum and courseware for four universities. Kevin is a top-rated speaker, appearing at international conferences including Microsoft TechEd, DevTeach, PASS, Microsoft IT Forum, and SQL Server Magazine Connections. 



Claudia Fernandez

  Claudia Fernandez is a Product Manager of SQL Tuning products at Quest Software.  Claudia has contributed to the strategic direction of SQL tuning products for multiple RDBMS since early 2000. She has presented at several technical conferences on RDBMS and Application Performance Tuning topics.

Claudia holds a MS in Computer Science and has several years of industry experience working with SQL Server, Sybase ASE, Oracle, DB2 UDB and other associated technologies. She enjoys movies and traveling.




Paul Wright 

 

Paul Wright is currently the world's foremost expert in Oracle Forensics. Mr. Wright wrote the first paper on Oracle Forensics in January 2005 and is the only person to currently hold both the GIAC Oracle Security qualification and the GIAC Forensics qualification.

 
Mr. Wright has a Masters Degree in Computer Science (Msc) from the University of Manchester, specializing on database security analysis.  He has nearly a decade of real-world experience as a Oracle certified DBA and developer.

 

Paul was instrumental in his work with NGS Software writing Oracle Security checks for NGS SQuirreL for Oracle (A master tool that provides vulnerability checks that cut out false positives and new Zero day checks).  He teaches various database security related courses for SANS.  


In his spare time, Paul enjoys Jeet Kun Do martial arts, Guitar, walking in the country and swimming.






Ramon Graham 
  Ramon Graham is a senior product manager at Quest Software and is responsible for leading the development efforts for Toad for Oracle. He has been with Quest since 1999, progressing through several roles including product management, requirements analysis and technical support. Prior to Quest, Ramon worked in various IT development roles for several companies in Southern California on Oracle and Web development projects.

He holds a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of California Berkley and is a member of both Pragmatic Marketing and the Project Management Institute. Ramon speaks regularly at Oracle and Toad User Groups around the world. 




Jon Emmons

  Jon Emmons is an Oracle ACE with many years of full-time experience running Oracle in a UNIX environment. His Oracle experience is reinforced by his many years as a UNIX system administrator. Jon has published extensively about Oracle on his website which continues to receive acclaim from the Oracle community.

 Lutz was one of the first trainers worldwide to deliver 11g New Features courses for Oracle University and Oracle Support Services.  He has delivered Oracle trainings in more than 10 countries and three continents.

Lutz has published a great number of articles on Oracle new features in American, Swiss and German tech magazines and speaks at Oracle User Group meetings from time to time. Laurent Schneider

 

Laurent Schneider is one of the most respected authors in Oracle technology, with many years of experience as a Systems Engineer and Database Engineer.

Laurent achieved the highest level of DBA certification in 2004, being the first Oracle Certified Master in Switzerland and recipient of the prestigious Oracle Technology Network ACE trophy.Oracle Certified Master  
Laurent has over a decade of expertise in development - specializing in data warehousing and database modeling as well as database administration. He currently works for a successful Swiss bank as application architect/developer.

In his spare time, Laurent enjoys studying Chinese Chess strategy and has won the Swiss Championship. He lives on the sunny side of the Uetliberg with his wife Bertille, his daughter Dora and his son Loïc.




V. J. Jain

 

V.J. Jain is an Oracle Database and Applications consultant with over 12 years of experience in database and ERP systems. He specializes in database performance, development, interfaces and high-performance solutions. V.J. actively evaluates Oracle's newest technologies and is a member of the Oracle Partner Network and Beta program. He has published articles on SearchOracle, OraFaq, OTN and is the owner of www.oracle-developer.com.

V.J. received his B.S. in Information and Computer Science from the University of California Irvine and is a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard where he served in military intelligence and held a TS/SCI security clearance. Brian Carr

  Brian Carr works as a Senior Oracle DBA and is an Oracle Certified Professional and Oracle ACE. His articles have appeared in SELECT Journal, OTN, Database Trends and Applications, JavaWorld, and DevX. He co-wrote a multithreaded Web crawler and search engine in Perl, as well as an anonymous web browsing service in C#.

Brian also wrote a server monitoring solution that has been commercially released.  Brian has a Master of Business Administration degree.




Lewis Cunningham

  Lewis Cunningham is an Oracle ACE and a Database Architect.  His specialties are Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL, and XML. He also has a fondness for SOA, security and most anything related to databases. He is an Oracle 9i Certified PL/SQL Developer and is a member of several user groups and ACM.

Lewis has been a developer, DBA, manager, team lead, architect and consultant. He has worked with Oracle since 1993. He currently works as a data architect designing and building OLTP and large-scale analytical using Oracle 10g. 



Brad Clayton

 

Brad Clayton is a PGA Master Teaching Professional with a growing reputation as one of the world's most dedicated golf instructors.  Today, golfers from around the world travel to North Carolina to learn Brad's unique method for improving their swing and lowering their golf scores.  Recently, Brad was honored with the PGA's prestigious Palmer Maples Teacher of the Year award for 2008.

With a lifelong dedication to golf instruction, Brad has developed a proven approach, attracting students from the USA and Europe.  Brad developed his unique teaching techniques with influences from some of the golf's legendary professionals, including but certainly not limited to David Leadbetter, Al Nelson, Wimpy Caldwell, Ed Ibarguen, Volker Knornsheld, Bill Lytton, Bill Strausbaugh, and Dick Tiddy.

Bryan Jones

 

Bryan Jones is an Oracle Certified Professional with 10+ years of hands on experience working with Oracle. Currently Bryan works full time as a Senior Lead Oracle DBA for a Top Level Federal Government Office.  He also assists Unisys DBAs and Federal Government DBAs with RDMBS performance tuning issues.

Bryan has a Masters in Computer Science from Creighton University with a BS in Computer Science from Westminster College. He has been working with Oracle since 1997. He has extensive experience with Oracle versions 7, 8, 8i, 9i, and 10g. He has also been in charge of Database Servers that process $10 billion of transactions per year.

Steve Callan 
 

Steve Callan is an Oracle certified professional with over 20 years of progressive hands-on technical experience and nearly a decade managing mission-critical Oracle databases.  He is also a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), and is proficient in SQL Server 2005. 

 

Steve is a highly technical database administrator with skills in managing very large Oracle databases, including skills in using Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) for high availability.  He is also a quantitative expert, proficient at advanced modeling, simulation and statistical analysis techniques.  In his roles as a lead technical DBA, he has managed Oracle security (using virtual private databases and role-based security) and he has experience with Oracle data warehouse technology.

 

Steve is also an experienced UNIX Systems Administrator, performing critical UNIX system admin duties, knowledgeable in all areas of UNIX administration including installation and configuration, security and multi-tiered UNIX architectures. 

 

Mr. Callan is a multi-faceted expert with significant experience using Oracle Application Server technology, performing all of the duties of an Oracle Application Server DBA and leveraging his technical skills with application server extension technologies, including HTML, JSP, JavaScript, CSS, Apache and Tomcat.  He also has experience as a developer using Apex (HTML-DB), SQL*Forms and SQL*Reports.

 

Steve has a Masters degree in Software and Information Systems from Regis University, and a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering from New Mexico State University.  He has also completed all Ph.D. coursework for his pending doctorate in Mathematical & Computer Sciences at the Colorado School of Mines.

 

Steve has contributed to the Oracle community by writing over 100 articles for DatabaseJournal.com and has volunteer over 900 answers on the Oracle Technical Network forums.

 

A former senior U.S. Military officer, Steve is a graduate of the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point, earning his wings as an attack helicopter pilot.  He has over 1,000 hours of operational aviation unit experience with Apache and Cobra attack choppers and won an Army senior aviator award for his piloting skills.

 

Steve lives in the Denver area and spends his spare time trying new wines, playing with computers, and writing a science fiction novel. 






Paulo Ferreira Portugal 
  Paulo Ferreira Portugal is a DBA with a decade of experience in IT and has worked as a DBA for 8 years. He is an Oracle Certified Professional (9i and 10g); IBM DB2 Certified (8 and 9 “Viper”); and an Oracle 11i Applications Database Administrator Certified Professional.

Currently, Paulo works as Senior Applications DBA for a company named F2C Consultoria in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. F2C serves one of Oracle E-Business’ largest clients in Brazil.

He has participated in the Oracle Beta Test 11i project using Data Guard, and is a specialist in High Availability tools like Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Streams and Oracle RAC. His clients in Brazil demand the most sophisticated services using tools like Oracle E-Business Suite 11i, Oracle OTM, Oracle Retail and Oracle BPEL with Oracle RAC 10g.

Paulo greatly enjoys what he does and is always improving his technical knowledge by attending events like Oracle Open World - San Francisco (2005 and 2006) and IBM Information on Demand – Los Angeles (2006).
 





Hubert Savio
  Hubert Savio is a senior IT specialist currently employed as a Senior Database Administrator at IBM Denmark.  Hubert has worked with Oracle since late 1996 as far back as releases 6 and 7.3.4.  Before working at IBM, he worked in several companies as a Linux/Unix system engineer and IT consultant.   Hubert holds a Masters degree in IT from the Centre d'etudes Supérieures Industrielles  of Strasbourg (in France).  Hubert is specialized in Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle under Unix and Linux.  He works on implementation projects for IBM.  He also holds several Oracle certifications, including OCP on 10g, OCE on both RAC and Oracle under Linux and is also certified on Linux.  Hubert passed also the ITIL and the Open Group Master Certified IT specialist program.  Hubert is a regular contributor on the Oracle Forum.  Hubert lived in Lyngby north of Copenhagen in Denmark.





Arne Møller
 

Mr. Arne Møller works as a self employed consultant; solving performance problems, resolving installation issues, doing restore/recovery tests; and addressing real world scenarios. He has been working in the IT business for more than 25 years with 15 years of experience with Oracle Databases.  Eight of these years were spent working for Oracle Denmark as an On Site Consultant for Danish and International customers. He is an Oracle Certified Professional 8.0, 8.1, 9i and 10g and an Oracle Certified Master 9i. Kamran Agayev A.

Porus Homi Havewala, OCM, is a Principal Consultant with extensive experience in Oracle technology since 1994, including as a Senior Production DBA, Senior Database Consultant, Database Architect, E-Business Technical DBA, Development DBA, and Database Designer Modeller. He has worked in Oracle India in the ACS (Advanced Customer Services) department and is an enthusiast for Oracle technology, especially Grid Control and RMAN, on which he has conducted seminars for large MNCs and implemented powerful enterprise tools.

Mr. Havewala has worked with the first production Grid Control site in the world, Telstra the largest telecommunications company in Australia. Mark Sorger
  Mark Sorger has 32 years of experience in IT. He began as an Application Programmer for Business Applications on RSTS/E and later VAX/VMS.  He moved on to VAX/VMS System Management, Windows Server administration, and Oracle Database Administration.  mark has been an Oracle DBA for 17 years on VMS, Solaris, HP-UX, Windows, and Linux.  He is currently the DBA Lead on a large Government Contract.
     



 
Martin Heinzl
  Martin Heinzl is a senior/principal consultant in the areas of architecture, middleware and enterprise systems. Over the last 15 years, he has built up extensive experience in enterprise middleware technologies in distributed systems.  His main areas of focus include architecture, integration, Java, J2EE, CORBA, distributed systems, integration approaches, and security.  His project involvement has included analysis, design, architecture, SOA (like) systems, configuration, security, deployment, automation, management, and monitoring.  This experience has given him a thorough knowledge of operations, automation, system architectures, development, and training.

Taeke S. Tuinstra
  Taeke S. Tuinstra has worked as an IT specialist since 1988. He worked for large national social security organization on IT headquarters as VAX/VMS system manager and systems auditor. Currently and since 7 or 8 years Oracle DBA (10g & 11g OCP) mainly working for ING bank but also smaller/shorter assignments. Gabriel Rosales
  Gabriel Rosales, M.Sc.  has over 10 years of IT and more than 6 of extensive experience with Oracle. Mr. Rosales has been an instructor at Oracle University for the Administration, Database Security and Oracle Tuning courses.  He was awarded the best IT Project Manager Profile by the Costa Rican Chamber of ICTs in 2006.
